Truly, Madly, Greekly by Mandy Baggot

Truly Madly Greekly cover

Sun, sea and a sexy stranger – a whole lot of fun just got a lot more complicated

Capable, confident and career-driven, Ellen had her dream job and a marriage proposal from boyfriend Ross. Life was good, her future set. Until it wasn’t and everything fell apart…

Whisked off to the beautiful island of Corfu to plan her sister Lacey’s big, fat, Greek wedding, Ellen is hoping some time out will help clear her head and heal her heart. But letting go of her past is not going to be easy.

With Lacey in full on Bridezilla mode, Ellen is soon distracted from her own problems. And when the all-inclusive treats on offer at hotel Blue Vue include one gorgeous, brooding Adonis – Yan – Ellen finds him difficult to resist.

But Ellen isn’t looking for love or lust, or anything involving too much ouzo…or is she?

My Review – 5 stars

I absolutely loved this book.
I forgot those cold winter days and escaped to Corfu for some sun, and what a fabulous time I had.
I really felt I was there, the descriptions were so real. I lost myself in the gorgeous Corfu sunshine.

The story starts with Ellen and Lacey researching a hotel for Lacey to get married in.
But for me the story is about the blossoming romance between Ellen and the gorgeous Yan.
The way he gets her to open up about things is beautifully done. I think his basic English helps here, and I can hear him speaking with his Bulgarian accent.
The characters had good depth, and this was delved into bit by bit especially with Ellen and Yan as things from the past were discovered. Things they hadn’t told anyone before.
I loved all the things going on in the hotel. The animation team were such fun, and I felt I was watching rather than reading. And Monica…there’s always one like that when you go on holiday!

I’ll say it again, I felt I was there from drinking Metaxa to the flying beetles.

This is a perfect summer read, it is also a perfect anytime read and it will stay with me forever.
