The Night Stalker by Robert Bryndza

The Night Stalker cover

If the Night Stalker is watching, you’re already dead…

In the dead of a swelteringly hot summer’s night, Detective Erika Foster is called to a murder scene. The victim, a doctor, is found suffocated in bed. His wrists are bound and his eyes bulging through a clear plastic bag tied tight over his head.

A few days later, another victim is found dead, in exactly the same circumstances. As Erika and her team start digging deeper, they discover a calculated serial killer – stalking their victims before choosing the right moment to strike.

The victims are all single men, with very private lives. Why are their pasts shrouded in secrecy? And what links them to the killer?

As a heat wave descends upon London, Erika will do everything to stop the Night Stalker before the body count rises, even if it means risking her job. But the victims might not be the only ones being watched… Erika’s own life could be on the line.

The global bestselling author of The Girl in the Ice is back with a heart-racing, electrifying thriller.

Watch out for more from DCI Erika Foster.

She’s fearless. Respected. Unstoppable. Detective Erika Foster will catch a killer, whatever it takes.

My Review – 5 stars

After reading The Girl in the Ice and being completely wowed by it, I couldn’t wait to get started with this one.

It didn’t disappoint. What a great plot.
It had me hooked straight away again.
The description of each murder was truly horrible. And I never knew about those bags. Researching them must’ve been a very strange thing. Firstly a doctor, and then three more single males
The killer’s planning was meticulous and it makes you think about your own security at home.
It had me watching shadows and double-checking the patio door.
No clues were left, nothing to go on. This was a tricky one for Erika and her team.

I love how Erika constantly goes on her instinct, her gut feeling. Even when the top brass are trying to steer it in a different direction.
She is a great, ballsy and smart character. It doesn’t always go down well with her superiors but it makes her team of Peterson and Moss fiercely loyal.
The side story of her friendship with forensic pathologist Isaac Strong is a nice one. Although she didn’t like his partner, crime writer Stephen.
And Simone, the nurse, caring for Mary in hospital.
We learned about her husband’s death in the first book, but this time we learned a bit more about that fateful day, and how it went terribly wrong.

We met her sister Lenka, via Skype, too.

Finding out who the killer was half way through the book was made it more exciting. We just needed to put together the motives. And catch them!

I loved the pace of the plot. Kept me turning the pages.
I was desperate for the conclusion.

Thanks to the great publishers, Bookouture, and NetGalley for the copy.
